There's been alot of buzz about Asian fighters lately(specifically Filipinos)thanks in due part to Manny Pacquaio who has opened a window of opportunity for his fellow countrymen, a chance to fight in the biggest market of them all.... U.S. of A, however I think the Asian & filipino fight managers, promoters, or anybody involved should proceed with the "long-term" in mind. Sending a wave of Asian fighters to test their mettle in America just for the sake of raking in quick money will only hurt us in the long run and put us back in square 1. They need to take their time in molding and training these fighters the right way. Don't just send anybody, send the best ones and make sure they're in tip-top form and the world will see what's been missin'.
I have personally scoped out 1-2 boxing gyms in Mexico(saw Margarito in one of 'em) and 1-2 gyms in the Phillippines. Let me tell you somethin' folks there's not much that seperates these two countries in terms of natural talent. The Mexicans advantages are... they've been exposed to alot more African-American fighters , American trainers and the Western style of boxing for a very long-time. The one biggest advantage that Hispanics have in general is their large population in America. For example A 'C'level Mexican fighter will get more exposure than an 'A' list Asian fighter. REMEMBER-> Promoters always look at the NUMBERS.
