Fighters have the right to quit whenever they want for whatever reasons they choose. Fight fans have the right to think poorly of them for quiting. The fact that 99% of the fight fans could not and would not endure what pro fighters endure is meaningless. Nobody with common sense expects fight fans to be any where near as tough and courageous as pro fighters. They are judged by completely different standards. Pro fighters are vastly tougher and more courageous than the average fight fan and that's part of the reason they chose to fight for a living and are payed sometimes millions of dollars to do so. Nobody expects car racing fans to drive as skillfully as the men driving the cars on the track. Nobody expects tennis fans to play tennis like the pros they are fans of. It's unreasonable to expect most fight fans to have the same courage as pro fighters. As for this game you play in Australia being the most dangerous sport in the world and requiring the most courage to play of any sport in the world I have only your word on that and I know nothing about this game. I was a boxer in the army and that's not the same as being a pro boxer. It did give me knowledge of what it's like to hit and get hit with boxing gloves on for a few 3 minute rounds.

This pretty much goes for every profession and people we encounter in our day to day, they should be more knowledgeable and better at what they are doing than spectators or people seeking services.

No one! I repeat, No one has the right to judge a fighters call if he and or his corner feels that man's life is in danger!

a lot of critics talk greasy but fact of the matter is these opinionated adolescents could never walk a day in the life of a fighter!

For those who assume boxing is a cake walk, i encourage you to lace up and try the sport for yourself. see how you like getting your head snapped back or your body pounded. then probably you'll think twice before bumping your gums again.

Those spectating are watching a battle between two men which comes down to their mental strength, determination and will to succeed. What went into training before the fight and the preparation is never really considered, the adrenaline of a fight overwhelms us.

Being a boxer carries a certain stereotype, that you'd fight to the death and would put you life on the line for entertainment - which shouldn't be expected of anyone. No boxer can ever be called a coward.

I don't think any fan should question the heart of a fighter who retires in a gruelling contest. The heart they have just to step in the ring alone is more than what the average fan has, let alone being in a professional contest against another highly skilled fighter.
