  • Comments Thread For: Victor Conte Clarifies Association With VADA

Victor Conte spoke to BoxingScene.com/CSNBayArea.com following Thursday’s Andre Ward-Edwin Rodriguez conference call to elucidate his involvement in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association.

“There is no connection of any type of a day-to-day basis (with VADA) other than me to say, ‘Hey, Edwin would like to do the testing,’” Conte said.

Conte, who currently serves as Rodriguez’s nutritionist, was mentioned during the call. Rodriguez alleged that Conte had been in contact with Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter about both fighters submitting to random drug testing to be administered by VADA and sponsored by Conte out-of-pocket. Complete BS. Check out this article from a few years ago when VADA first showed up, BEFORE he and Gabriel "Failed journalist, failed actor 40 with no job, Ortega writes for Ring and I don't" Montoya tainted the fake non-profit with shadiness and obvious corruption.

      http://www.examiner.com/article/vict...of-anti-dopers

Check out some of these gems that make it obvious he has WAY more involvement than he claims in the latest article:

“I'm going to tell you something that we've never disclosed to anybody before. And we've been working on this and I'll tell you some of the names, because this has been written about in some boxing magazines. Dr. Margaret Goodman (former ringside physician and Medical Advisory Board Chairman for the Nevada State Athletic Commission), Dr. Flip Hamonsky (Former Nevada commissioner), I'm involved, and there's another very high profile anti-doping world renowned expert involved. We'll reveal who this is shortly, but he is one of the most credible people in the world of anti-doping,”

"We've been working on this since September of last year and we hope to implement it in the near future. How soon that can be, whether it's going to be in days, weeks or months, I can't tell you. But it's going to be in the near future.”

Compare these quotes to this latest BS he's trying to spew where he's trying to claim his involvement was just two conversations with Margaret Goodman and nothing more. The UFC is right - VADA is a complete joke as with everyone involved with them.

Nice find. I came across this article a long time ago, but forgot all about it. The way Conte pushes VADA, it seems like he's invested into it. And Rodriguez said Conte is sponsoring his VADA testing, how is that possible if he's not some sort of partner?

Conte used to be the bass player for the band Tower of Power (true)...bass players know alot about drugs.

In all fairness...this was really a great song

Don't give a flying fk what his involvement is...it scared the hell out of Memo Heredia when VADA was mentioned and I think that just goes to show them folks are onto something good. As long as testing is involved I don't care.

            How you clean up boxing:
            1. Sit down the powerful seven promoters of the sport.
            2. Get the majority to agree to testing of their stable, plan a pr campaign for it.
            3. Get them each to pony up a million a year for it (they can afford it) and then offer free testing to every fight/fighter in all of boxing. Work as a unified front to secure sponsorship to keep it going.
            4. Shun the shh out of every promoter/fighter who isn't providing/using testing.
            5. Get the whole thing sponsored, i'm pretty sure HBO/Showtime would interested as would tecate, nike, and others.

That right there protects the promoter, the fighters, and gets everyone involved well over a million dollars of free promotion each. It's a win-win for the sport because not only are the execs going to be interviewed but journalists would turn to boxers themselves to discuss it and many of those same boxers could use the publicity.

He's making it sound as if HE ALSO is a "very high profile, anti-doping, world renowned expert" whereas he has never been that. On the contrary; he's been a doping expert who was caught and went to prison. Which makes it a question as to whether he was ever a real expert. He likely didn't keep up with the latest testing technology.

OK so Conte is full of **** but how does this make vada a joke? It doesn't follow at all. Unlike the other guys they prevented some cheats from entering the ring, including Conte client Berto. And AFAIK they've been implicated in none of the sketchiness that's tainted usada in boxing

Their two biggest cheerleaders Conte and Montoya are straight up liars act totally unprofessional and give incentive not to do business with them

Look at the way Conte acts on twitter to Memo. Would you want to do VADA of you were a memo fighter? Who gives a f about carbon ratio testing, would you trust them?

Montoya straight up lied about his involvement in pascal bute which he reported on (assuming you still consider maxboxing a publication since Alexa.com basically doesn't "). In the meantime memos advisor claims she has audio of him encouraging more stringent testing for memo fighters

This is what I'm talking about when I say the UFC is right that they are a joke. They are privately run and the non profit thing is meaningless, they will just turn al their profits into salary and bonus increases. Why wouldn't you rather go with usada or some state run commission instead that isn't associated with that bs

Conte is no expert. He is just a businessman. Memo exposes him daily on twitter.
