  • Comments Thread For: Provodnikov Implores Fans To Donate To Magomed

Speaking through his manager and translator Vadim Kornilov, WBO super lightweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov told BoxingScene.com that he would like to send a personal message to boxing fans, imploring them to donate whatever they can to the fund set up to help Magomed Abdusalamov's family and help pay for his medical expenses.

Provodnikov and Team Provodnikov team members Kornilov, Andrei Napolskikh, German Titov, and Alexey Titov have already made a significant donation to help their countryman.

Provodnikov keeps making more and more of a fan out of me. Such a stand up dude. Never an excuse, just an honest hard working man.

            HBO?

all they do is buy the right to broadcast a fight. they'll hopefully send a donation, but it's not like they're obligated to take care of magomed abdusalamov. they're not the ones in charge of insuring him. his promotor and manager should be responsible, and should make sure he's insured before the fact. it appears as though his promotor didn't have an adequate amount of insurance for a world class boxer. that is not HBO's fault.

nor is it the fault of HBO that the fight was allowed to continue for 10 rounds.

Those who are against this aren't real fans. If I had the money I would send him something in a second. Ya'll enjoy the blood and guts right? Time to do something good for something you love. Send the guy something!!!

Thats what I was thinking. They should have some kind of insurance for every fight for things like this. Its not exactly unforeseeable

Provodnikov made quite a lot of money vs Alvarado. $600k, i'd imagine he took home around $470-$480k. I don't know if he's saving it to buy a nice home some where in Russia, or whatever it is he's doing with it. But why don't he and a couple of other boxers get together and make a nice donation for Magomed? With the Bradley and Alvarado fight, i'm sure he banked in around $700k at least in 2013 alone. And with his huge title win, he's lined for another bigger pay day than $600k probably.
