I think even right now the fight would do 2 million+ buys. After Rios we're back into the 3 million+ zone.

Casual fans love Manny. He puts on a good show every time he fights.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is still the most talked-about matchup among casual fans. They're not discussing Cotto-Canelo or any other fight to the same degree.

Mayweather-Pacquiao would be getting national news coverage if the fight ever gets signed.

Whether or not Manny has a chance at winning doesn't matter at all for this one. The selling point will literally be "the best offensive fighter of this era vs the best defensive fighter of this era" and that's all they'll need to get people tuning in.

Even years later with everybody saying they dont care now. This fight would still sell, think of the years of bad blood. Manny would lose but i cant imagine him doing worst than Floyds last opponents.

Assuming Manny beats Rios in impressive style...very big fight.Maybe 1.9-2.3 million PPV buys.

If he beats Rios and Bradley before Money May fight....wow !!

New 2.3-2.8 million PPV with 25+ million dollar gate and 35-40 million in sponsorship $$$.

        Purses for that fight :
Money May...50 million guaranteed + 9 % PPV after cost.
Manny ...35 million guaranteed + 5 % PPV after cost

I doubt it. Casuals would still think Pac is a beast and want Mayweather to lose and easily buy it.

Still think it'll happen in Sept 2014. It depends on how Manny looks but regardless I think it will be at the very least the 2nd highest PPV in terms of buys and $$$ with the potential for being the biggest fight ever. Personally I think the fight would be more competitive 3-4 years ago but Casuals who watch 1 or 2 fights a year are going to eat this fight up.

Trust me. You'll wanna stop hearing about the fight as soon as it gets signed.

That's how much people are gonna be talking about it.

This site would increase by 50% in traffic, and some days the servers would crash with posters debating and what not.

That's how huge this fight is, and anyone with even a few brain cells understands the magnitude of this fight for boxing history.

This is the holy grail of boxing/fighting/athletic matches of this generation.

The posters that say its lost it luster will still watch and watch with great intensity.

              This fight transcends boxing.

This is the social media era. You have no idea how big the hype for this fight will be.

Honestly, people say they are tired of it, but the truth it, if it happened everyone would buy it. The fight would be the biggest sporting event in the World and would be exciting, trust me on that. The build up, the ****ing ring side famous people would be next level.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you think that Pacquaio vs Mayweather does less numbers than Canelo did. Alvarez may have a name among casual fans but not nearly to the extent that Pacquiao does. Manny Pacquiao was a huge star before anyone in America even heard of Canelo Alvarez.

Ties the record or maybe even a little more assuming there's good promotion and a country wide tour and all that good stuff. Remember, this is assuming Rios gets destroyed by a solid looking Pacquiao. The casuals will eat it up and the hype is back just like that.
