COTTO vs CANELO is GUARANTEED FIREWORKS. COTTO vs MARTINEZ might look like MARTINEZ vs CHAVEZ or COTTO vs TROUT. WHY would Canelo take the lesser cut if he fights Cotto. Think about this, Canelo had 800,000 more ppvs against Mayweather than Cotto and Cotto was already a known ppv star. Regarding SChaefer, AT LEAST he is saying how much he is willing to offer Cotto, not like Arum who said he "offered" Cotto $13 million after Cotto turned down the fight against Pacquiao. Cotto later denied that Arum offered him this much to figh Pacquiao. Cotto has been in the game long enough and is a promoter himself to know that he can get $10 million plus against Canelo if the fight does well.

why do you think so? Canelo has a low output and is usually in boring fights. Martinez is often exciting. Cotto seems to be going for legacy over money here,

After Cotto stops Canelo the megafight will be Cotto vs Martinez and the winner will get Floyd.

The Miguel vs Maravilla will be worth 2x what is worth today since it will have the addtional hype of Cotto stopping the Redone and Martinez being a much bigger threat and the 4th Div for Cotto = $$$ .

The winner of that fights FMJr. for the linear MW tittle. Now, if Miguel fights Maravilla, then the only fight will El Angel will be Mayweather for the MW Linear = $$$ as well!

So, two routes:

This is just the guranteed money but the problem is GBP is offering a 2 fight deal and very much cutting off Cotto's option after the 1st fight, If Cotto wins he cant just go and fight Martinez with Top Rank he must fight a GBP fighter so thats the only catch here. Still a lot of money and next year he could make 25 million in just 2 fights.

I believe they said Cotto could agree to do a 2 fight deal with them or they were ok setting up a one fight deal with him, its up to Miguel.
Canelo/Cotto, with Victor Ortiz and Lara/Trout on the undercard would be a very good PPV card IMO.
