  • golovkin would be too big and skilled for floyd. lol some people here really dont know ****. everyone has limits. no punch from floyd would bother golovkin. and the way golovkin fights non-stop pressure, superb jab, great footwork, scary power, and granite chin.

too much for a smaller man like floyd. not even a fair fight. people here really dont realize how significant size advantage is when the bigger fighter knows how to utilize it. the strength and power difference would be too much.

most of them have, regardless of style, but you know what style has been the closest, same style every time

      hatton
      cotto
      hoya
      castillo

      pressure brusts pipes

these guys came the closest to beating floyd, and none of them come close to golovkins experience besides hoya, if we are talking now, golovkin wouldn't be as old, nor would he fight as tiring a fight as hoya with various flurries
he has a better right hand and picks his shots better with a better use for the jab(although hoya's was damn good too)
Castillo won 5 or 6 rounds in the 1st fight, the other guys didn't win more than 3 IMO. I don't see how winning 3 rounds provides the foundation for a gameplan.

I agree pressure makes fighters wilt, but that pressure has to be effective. WHile I am sure GGG can apply effective pressure, i still maintain the chase and the missed punches will sap his stamina. To what degree, I don't know.

But a 154lb GGG, in a huge ring, chasing floyd for 12 rounds. I don't know.

golovkins jab isn't better then cottos. cottos jab is quicker has the better timing & is actually proven on world level........he landed that jab against clottey, marg, pac, & judah. who has golovkin landed that jab on that was actually world level? stevens? ishida? is this some kind of joke.............my point is when you fight high competition you will have guys that are able to bob & weave, roll punches, take the jab away from you. cottos jab is proven on a world level..........you can't compare that with golovkin jabbing ishida.
        it's ridiculous.
WHATTTTT??????????? Probably the dumbest **** I've read in a while. LMAO. You don't think golovkin would not land jabs on HIGH COMPETITION that BOBS and WEAVE like CLOTTEY, MARGARITO, JUDAH??

You actually have to prove you have a good jab by hitting named fighters with this guy.

the conversation was not about if golovkin had a good jab or not. it's about does he have a better jab then cotto and the answer is no..............

and yes, competition tells everything. jabbing clottey is a lot different then jabbing ishida...........

I know you'll simply dismiss this, saying he ain't been fighting high calibre opposition etc. Nonetheless over a four fight spread GGG has landed over twice the middleweight average jabs per rnd, and lands more jabs per a round on average than any other 'championship level' boxer - that's including both the little guys who hit fast and the big ones, like Wlad who's opponents don't do much bobbing and weaving. That jab ain't just good, it's virtually off the scale.

In terms of punch accuracy he's second, fractionally behind Floyd, but lands nearly twice as many due to his greater output.

In terms of punches landed per round he's also second, a little behind Leo Santa Cruz who fights at 122

Whichever way you cut it, GGGs punching is exceptional. Would that drop some against better opposition? A bit, perhaps, but for reference Maravilla, who's recent fights have hardly been a level of class above GGGs lands a little over half as many shots per round, but is considerably more likely than Golovkin to be landed upon.

Anyways, despite presumably now sounding like a compubox warrior, I was more just trying to make a point. By the standards of championship level fighters, Golovkins abilities lie up there amongst the top tier of active fighters in the only practical ways we have to compare them. Make of that what you will, but despite not having yet faced elite opposition, the fighters he has faced are guys who have fought at or close to championship level, not club level fighters with no defensive skills.

              • Yes I love GGG too but I think its a pretty long stretch to say he beats Floyd.

I actually think Floyd would take a fight like this. He loves come forward aggressive style fighters.

Sure loved his dismantling of Marg. Did great vs Castillo as well. Or who did you have in mind, mad dog Guerrero?
