Nathan Cleverly is confident he could be a two-weight world champion before 2014 is out after branding his step up to cruiserweight "inevitable".

The 26-year-old Welshman believes he was on borrowed time at light-heavyweight as far back as his second WBO title defence, against Tony Bellew back in October 2011.

Cleverly admitted he always expected a step up in weight, but still hit the lowest ebb of his career when Sergey Kovalev swiped his world title in Cardiff in August.

The Cardiff University maths graduate is enjoying not fighting to make weight, but appreciates the size of the gap he must bridge against Australian Daniel Ammann for the vacant Commonwealth cruiserweight title in London on November 30.

Frank Warren stablemate Dereck Chisora will defend his European heavyweight title against undefeated Italian Matteo Modugno on the same card, at the Copper Box Arena in Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Park.

And Warren revealed a victory for Chisora could hand the Londoner a shot at a heavyweight world title eliminator fight.

Word on the block is Eddie Chambers - Nathan Cleverly in 2014. Take it with a grain of salt.

I still believe Clev should stay at 175. I strongly believe he can beat almost anyone at LHW.

Based on what, a weak LHW division. Ive never seen anything special in Cleverly. He got a belt he didn't earn, defended it against no namers, and as soon as he stepped up he got absolutely destroyed.

Dude Kovalev was a colossal step up. He did literally the same exact thing to Campillo who beat Cloud and Shumenov. Kovalev was the absolute worst possible matchup for cleverly at 175, the worst.

Styles make fights and the only other top LHW who could potentially destroy opponents like Kovalev is Adonis. Cleverly can fight Kovalv 100 times and I believe he will lose all 100...... But what's that have to do with him against someone like Cloud and Shumenov? Division may be weak, but the top 10 is the top 10. After Adonis, Hop and Kovlaev, the division is wide open.

I think Cleverly is a good boxer, when he doesn't have to eat 35 power punches a round by Sergey freaking Kovlaev

You think he got "exposed," I think the potential best/top LHW Just did what he was supposed to do and outclassed him

This is a real shame. There are decent fights at LHW- Dawson, Stevenson, Bhop. I could have seen Froch facing Clev at 175 a year or two down the line, too. He's not a cruiser at all, and will get completely smashed Vs anyone decent.

Wouldn't be surprised if the loss to Kovalev ends up being the equivalent of Maccarinelli's loss to Haye.

What are his handlers thought process? Did he have a hard time making weight before? This is like a death wish for Cleverly. Kovalev (Frankenstein) must've scared him away from the entire division.
