i feel the sergio martinez of 2010 would beat current GGG

martinez is few years ago had the ability to cause ggg big problems with his lateral movement, speed and punch power and imo would have beaten him

however martinez has aged, worn out with injuries etc

i feel ggg would beat him now esp after martinez last fight, he didnt look great at all

i think ggg should stay at 160 for 3 more fights

id like him to fight murray, peter quillin and then maybe alvarez if canelo moves up i think that would be a awesome fight

He should certainly be favored. Golovkin would give any version of middleweight Martinez a tough fight though. This great, prime version of Martinez everyone hold up to this standard did have tough fights with Darren Barker and Matthew Macklin.

no. golovkin's an incredible fighter. martinez would run for his life. martinez-cotto is a good fight, a great fight so I won't complain, but GGG is on another level.

It would have been a great fight. GGG would have been tested for sure. I call this a toss-up. Martinez will not be as easy to tee off on as Stevens but GGG will land his body shots and he would land a lot more shots as well. I can see Martinez winning the majority of the first 8 rounds (say 5-3 or even 6-2) but he would be taking shots as well.

Now we have the unknowns: how well can Martinez take GGG's shots; how much stamina does GGG have; how does GGG handle losing rounds and being behind in a fight?

All these unknowns make it a toss-up for me.

            This.

Would still be a 50/50 right now, as the only thing that seems to trouble GGG is speed. If Martinez can bring that then

50/50 fight with any version of Sergio.

Too much pride, and slugs it out when he feels the pressure.

              Ex. Chavez/Williams.

GGG is pinpoint accurate, and hits harder than anyone he's faced. Not an easy fight for either guy.

I'd favour that Martinez vs this version of GGG. Like a poster previously stated, the lateral movement, speed & power would be a lot for GGG to handle.

I believe the version of Martinez that schooled Chavez Jr would've won as well. Then his knee, leg or whatever else started giving out on him. Right now GGG wins. Maybe quite easily too.

Its funny how people are trying to make fantasy match ups from different years to make themselves feel better because they think Golovkin will beat martinez' ass if they meet up

                  Moral victory i guess

From what I saw in the fight with Stevens who is a c+, b- fighter I think Sergio if healthy can beat ggg... He doesn't fight well going backwards and speed kills which Sergio has... The few shots that Stevens landed made ggg think twice at some points but Curtis was too small and gun shy... Ppl act like Stevens was some sort of killer but his past speaks for itself, anyway ggg is beatable the question is who currently at 160 can beat him.. Quillin has a leaky defense, Murray is not a power puncher he most likely gets walked down, Martinez is on the downfall and everyone else is fodder
