I think being lineal champion in 3 weight classes at the same time is equal to the achievement set by Henry Armstrong.

Not saying he would be better but it would be an incredible achievement all the same.

It's not even remotely close to what Armstrong did. Armstrong was featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight champion at the same time, and he was THE champion, not a holder of one of 4 belts.

Why do boxing fans get such hard ons for trophies and belts?

One of the most exciting fights in the past 5 years was when JMM ko'd Pacquiao and that had nothing to do with these ****** trophies or belts

Yeah but I don't really rate these belt organizations. You have to consider mayweather THE champion at welter and junior middle weight classes right now.

So he's currently the lineal champ like Armstrong was in two divisions. If he can beat Martinez in his next fight then he is the lineal champ at three equalling the record.

Fans get excited because they want to see the best in the sport compete at the highest level possible. You really don't know a lot about boxing. Why don't you stick to worldstar hiphop youtube fights.

No I don't. He's better than anyone at 154, but he hasn't earned the right to be called THE champion. Beating Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez isn't enough. Especially since Mayweather will never fight the rest of the division to prove it.

And it isn't the same as Armstrong at all. Featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>welterweight, junior middleweight, and middleweight.

He won't challenge for 160, most of his fans will tell you this too.

I bet he'd consider it if Cotto beats Martinez. Mayweather/Cotto II at 155 for the middleweight title.

That fight wouldn't even be interesting from a fan's pespective.

They could definitely sell that if cotto dismantles Martinez in good fashion. It would be far more interesting than anything happening below middleweight.

But yeah overall I agree mayweather holding three championships at once wouldn't equal Armstrong by a while, but it would be an incredible achievement.

Also I think beating the consensus number 1 in the division should make you number 1. You don't have to take on every beltholder there is to prove you're the best. For most people there is no case that any welter or junior middle is close to Floyd right now.
