British Boxing Board of Control general secretary Robert Smith tells the Evening Times that former WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison (27-3-2, 15KOs) has been suspended because he failed to supply documents regarding any and all outstanding court issues. Harrison has had a long history over the years with several criminal cases related to assaults, theft, substance abuse. Harrison did a stretch of prison time and his career was hit with a huge gap from November 2005 to June 2012.

Good fighter in his day and could have been a whole lot better.....but now he's just an old guy whose personal demons and problems with the law get magnified and hyped all the more because of his former fame and because he still wants to box and have a licence.

Smith and the Board could and should have really cut Scott a favour and just told him in private and without it needing to go public...."you're not fighting right now Scott, but come back to us when you can show us when your legal paperwork and issues are back in order." Simple, effective and it does make Harrison feel like public enemy #1 and put him back in the papers.

Or does the Board have an agenda and want to be seen to be tough and Harrison is there for the taking?
