Grant gloves, in my experience, are safest for the hands. They may want to look into that to. Everlast and Rival among others are downright dangerous by comparison IMO. Always disturbed to see people risking their lives with those things on.
You can't knock someone out without causing impact between their brain and skull. That's what a knockout is. This is an absurd PR stunt to make it seem like they're addressing the problem. The fact is that brain impact is integral to boxing. The best way to address the issue of long term brain damage is to continue the development of screening technology and protocols along with the immediate proper treatment of concussions. In addition, lifestyle choices may affect the severity of concussions and their impact on overall cognitive function. More research should be done in this area. Hydration during brain impact seems to be an important factor, and day-before weigh-ins were a great step forward.
They are *****ing up the sport even more. Maybe in 50 years they'll be fighting with 20oz gloves and after a certain amount of landed shots they'll stop the bout. These initiatives scare me for real, I don't want to lose interest in a sport that I enjoy watching so much.
