I don't know if this is a troll bait thread but I'm on my lunch break so I'll bite.
Originally posted by Truth. View PostI see people including him in their top P4P lists, what I don't understand is, why? He's not even one of the top 10 at 140/147 let alone top 10 P4P.
Miguel Vazquez - Current LW Champion and #1 fighter in the division
Junior Witter -#1 contender at 140
Kendall Holt - #6 fighter at 140
Lamont Peterson - Unified champion at 140 in 2011
Luis Carlos Abregu - #1 contender currently at 147 for WBC title. Has two solid wins in his last 2 fights. You will hear about him again.
Devon Alexander - Top 3 contender at 140. Current IBF Champion at 147
Ruslan Provodnikov - Current WBO champion at 140
Juan Manuel Marquez - Top 3 p4p fighter in the world
And I'm not including Manny Pacquiao but that's a win on paper.
He's a solid fighter with a bit of everything, but he's not outstanding in any area. He's got heart and determination as well as good athleticism, but he hasn't got any specific boxing qualities that stand out.
He's not a 'slick' boxer contrary to popular belief, he mixes it up and shows a bit of everything like I said, but the likes of Ward, Mayweather, Lara, Rigo are 'slick' and naturally gifted 'boxers', they're streets ahead of a pretender like Bradley.
But in boxing terms, I agree he's not "slick" but he has the ability to fight using that style. And I like Lara but if Bradley is a pretender then Lara isn't even trying. Their body of work doesn't even compare.

Don't get me wrong, I thought he made it a boring fight, but won a close but decisive fight. I had it 7-5 in his favour.

Truth.
100% Truth.
I been saying this holmes, Bradley is a likeable guy, but he's overrated man. Honestly he's so overrated. He gets by on tremendous will, chin and determination. His defense is overrated and he has no power.
Ortiz would beat Bradley 100% I'd bet real money if that fight ever happened.

if you dont think bradley is elite,, thats fine,, i think he is but there are plausible arguements for him not being elite,,
but to say that he isnt top 10 at welter is about the ******est thing i have read lately
Bradley has legit wins over
jmm
alexander
peterson
abregu
witter
holt
vasquez
ruslan
plus the gift vs manny
so officially he has wins over welters- manny, jmm, alexander, abregu,,, those guys are either champs, former champs, or the current #1 contender for floyds belt at welter,, bradley has wins over all of them, yet he isnt top 10,,,
Thread starter just needs to log out, and watch a different sport like bowling,,

He just beat the #3 welterweight in the world. He has wins over:
Miguel Vazquez - Current LW Champion and #1 fighter in the division
Junior Witter -#1 contender at 140
Kendall Holt - #6 fighter at 140
Lamont Peterson - Unified champion at 140 in 2011

Bradley is an extremely versatile fighter. He can box, he can be the aggressor and his athletic ability gives him a chance to compete with anybody. You say "he's not outstanding in any area". I say he does everything well enough to rack up wins against top notch opposition. Several fighters are great in one area but when they face an opponent that can neutralize that one area, they get frustrated.
On NSB, "slick" doesn't mean what it is supposed to mean. Its used as a substitute to describe a certain race of people.
But in boxing terms, I agree he's not "slick" but he has the ability to fight using that style. And I like Lara but if Bradley is a pretender then Lara isn't even trying. Their body of work doesn't even compare.
I agree with some of your points, I could be being a bit harsh on him. I agree that he's versatile and can fight in a number of different ways, that's what I meant when I said he's got a bit of everything, but he's not outstanding at any style, I stick by that.
Barring Marqeuz, none of those wins are overly impressive imo, Bradley is better than the lot of them, but that's no big deal as none of those guys are elite or even close to being elite.
And no racism was intended when I said 'slick', not sure what that's all about?

Agree he's B level.
You looking forward to the Man Utd game btw mate?
I'd take a point now if offered, I know they haven't been any good so far this season, but it's still Man Utd.
