22-year-old Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez (26-0, 20KOs) has raised his hand to face Marco Antonio Rubio (58-6-1, 50KOs) for the interim-middleweight championship of the World Boxing Council.
Ramirez is ranked at number four, while Rubio is the mandatory challenger to the crown currently held by Sergio Martinez. Rubio is putting pressure on the WBC to force a fight with Martinez, who is out of action until the first half of 2014 due to injuries. Ramirez returns to action on December 7th in Oklahoma.
