Comments Thread For: Donaire Plans To Fight Smart in Darchinyan Rematch

2012 “Fighter of the Year” Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is “good to go” in his rematch with Vic Darchinyan in Corpus Christi, Texas on Sunday morning Manila Time in a fight to be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over its pre-eminent Channel 2 as well as globally on The Filipino Channel.

Donaire spoke to the Manila Standard as he and wife Rachel were on their way to the airport to pick up Nonito’s dad, Nonito “Dodong” Donaire Sr from the airport.

He said training had been “very good and I am mentally focused” for the fight even as he bared no problems in making the featherweight limit and even though he didn’t work out today and ate a full meal he weighed in at 130 pounds that is just 4 pounds over the limit which he should have no problem shedding off before the official weigh-in. Fight smart? He just has to do exactly what he did the first time. Pointless rematch if you ask me.

Nonito should easily win this one. Not like the first fight was a fluke and Nonito got a lucky punch in. He was winning the entire fight outboxing and beating Vic to the punch. After that fight Nonito lost once (his last fight), Vic has lost 4 times after that.

Nonito is probably taking this fight knowing he can easily ice Vic (whom is still a semi decent name in the game) so he can practice some new things he's been learning/practicing in training. Sharpen the tools before stepping back up in competition seeing how he was outclassed so easily and looked like just another opponent against Rigo.

It is kind of pointless but Im still looking forward to it, vic is out for blood whether he gets iced again or not, it should be exciting

That would probably be the funniest moment of the year if Nonito somehow loses. Man would he would have had to have to worst year as a boxer. Outclassed by Rigo then Vic comes back from the dead to upset him. He'll be on suicide watch!
