It works out for some of them to not fight in the US. I'm not sure what Marquez or Segura made las night but I bet it wasnt bad. Both men have huge followings in Mexico and that fight probably had great ratings in Mexico last night. Not to mention the people watching it on American tv.
Another good example is kazuto Ioka. I read he makes 300,000 to 400,000 for most of his fights. He's has a huge following in Osaka and Japan in general. He fights at 108 will probably be moving up to 112 soon and lining up another showdown with Yaegashi. That will be a huge fight in Japan and they would both make a substantial amount more to fight in Japan. US tv networks won't dish out that kind of cash of fighters no one has ever heard of in America.

Sorry, they don't interest casual fans. It's not fair, but it is what it is. People don't care about watching people that much smaller than the average man, especially because the chances of brutal one punch KOs are small.

It will never happen because Most casual fans don't want to watch a bunch of grown men who are barely five feet tall and like 100-115 pounds.

Yeah I agree, those guys would make for fun undercards on PPVs and they probably wouldn't cost much to air either. People just don't like watching little guys fight but who's really watching the opening two bouts on a PPV undercard anyway? Just us hardcore fans... so it'd be great to get fights we would really enjoy in those slots.

Its a pity that this fight didn't get the attention that it deserved.

Casual fans have no idea how big the fighters in the ring are. They could not tell a middleweight from a lightweight.

Casual fans dont even watch HBO/Showtime fights.

Casual fans are people that make PPVs reach over 1MM buys.

We've always been reasonably lucky in the UK with the smaller guys usually getting ok-ish some screen time from the broadcasters (if not the same amount of pounds in their pockets as the big boys).

Dave McAuley from Northern Ireland used to be fantastic value for money at Flyweight and his toe-to-toe battles with Bassa were epic and guys like Robbie Regan and Pat Clinton used to get a fair crack of the whip as well.

I am hoping Paul Butler who is the current Super Fly will get the media coverage he deserves because he's exciting as well.

If anyone gets a couple of spare mins checkout the Bassa-McAuley world title tear-ups....they are forgotten classics.

I try to like the very low weight classes but honestly it is hard to be excited for a fight when the guys fighting are the size of a high school girl
