Yeah but to do that you have to have something to make him back up. do you think golovkin is just going to back up when a fighter moves forward? Golovkin's jab alone is a nightmare to deal with.

That's what everybody said about pac too and he is an ATG LOL. Easier said than done trying to back up a fighter with scary power and elite skills.

Lucky for him that his style isn't about fighting on the backfoot. And conversely, those who are great on the backfoot aren't generally brilliant on the front foot.

He's an offensive machine, and a skilled one at that. He only really need to worry about fighting on the backfoot when he goes to 168, and even then, if anyone tries taking it to him, he will come back firing.

The guy is just gonna be an awesome fighter to follow from an entertainment point of view.

While true, there's probably no one at middleweight who can keep him on the backfoot, and he can do a good enough job the few times he is pushed back in a fight to deliver his own blows.

When he eventually moves up to fight Froch or Ward, that's when this could be an issue, if not corrected. Those guys will push him back regularly, and Golovkin would need to be better than he was against Stevens.

Diego Chaves out-punched Thurman at 147, broke his nose and forced him onto the backfoot, I doubt he would fare well against Golovkin at 154. Thurman's gonna be a great WW though, he'll run through the lot of blown up JWWs moonlighting at 147.
Martinez doesn't have what you'd call a reliable chin.

Golovkin will rule 160 for years. Hopefully he can get Martinez soon.

its the opposite actually. pac struggles when ppl make him come to them, he cant cut the ring off, gets frustarted and overextends himself leaving himself vulnerable for counters. ppl trying to overpower him and back him up are tailor made for him.

as for golovkin i think he looked good in all areas, some minor things that need tweaking but no major holes in his game. stevens might have got himself the fight with his mouth, but he was ready to back it up in the ring. he wasnt able to because ggg fought such a good fight, he had to because stevens was a real test. he really has improved tremendously since a few years ago.
