Will Morale make Manny wear Jap Gloves??

Just curious if you think Manny will have to wear the Japanese boxing gloves as Barrera had to in the 3rd fight and what are the substantial differences between those and the american(?) gloves?

Does it really matter? The weight should be the same . . . standard. Well maybe . . . . in terms of the fighters comfortability on using them.

They should be able to pick their own.

Um, I don't think they can pick their own. Both fighters need the same gloves I believe. At least I know Eric Morales won't fight unless he gets his japanese gloves. I want to know why he prefers them? Anyone know?

Is that so? Eric doesn't want to fight using other gloves? That's what I'm saying . . . maybe he is very comfortable using one.

Morales says his hands don't fit into the Reyes gloves properly or at least that's what I have heard.

That is correct, Morales' fists are too large for the Reyes Gloves and has injured his hands more times using those gloves because of that (against chavez was one time). It's actually not that strange as some people might think. Fenech's fists also didnt fit the Reyes gloves properly and was plagues with after-fight injuries.

He has injured his hands using the gloves of brand Winning as well but it has been because of a wrong punch.

From what i understand from fighters, and trainers speaking, both Winning and Reyes are puncher's gloves while, Everlast and Grant are softer and provide more protection.

The thread reminds me of an anecdote often told whenever the matter of gloves is raised.

In one fight, Angelo Dundee, went over to the dressing room of the fighter opposing his ward to check on the hand wrapping. While there he noticed that the opponent had not been properly warmed up and did not show signs of ever going into a set of proper warm up regime.

He scurried back to his fighter's dressing room, shouted that the gloves be changed from Everlast to Cueto. The change was quickly made.

The result: first round KO in favor of Dundee's pug.

I can't remember the fighters involved; it's the matter of the gloves and Angelo's smarts that are stuck with me.

Perhaps others here can provide more details?

It is funny cause when it comes to pro athletes any little thing can make a difference. Lets say me and Gray go at it with any kind of gloves,it wont change the outcome for us.
