He was tougher bcse he didn't get KO'd by that hook and made it deeper in the fight than almost everyone expected even if it was by going with a high guard defense the majority of the time to avoid getting blitzed it front of his peeps
Stevens back is huge despite looking smaller compared to Golovkin he must of been fat or really muscled up to fight at LHW like they said he did
He would have had a punchers chance if he attacked more, but in round 7 when he landed 2 or 3 shots, GGG tapped his chest as if, come to me. Curtis did not hurt GGG and GGG wanted him to attack more. If he did, he was going to get hurt. There were 2 or 3 occasions where GGG hurt him with looping shots, and IMO GGG wanted to time that again.
As we all know, or should know by now, when a fighter gets hit flush and shakes his head or ****s his chest or smiles or taps his chin or whatever it is, it means you got their attention.
And the only times I saw GGG hurt Stevens was the KD and the end of the last round. Otherwise, they both reacted the same to eachothers punches, which was being momentarily stunned.
To answer the thread, I don't think Stevens was better than we thought, I just think Golovkin is not as good as people believed. This will be further proven as he fights better opposition. People are easily impressed calling him the FOTY when he has only fought 2 top 10 ranked MW's this year and both of them were Top 6-10, not even top 5. The other 2, Rosado and Ishida were not even ranked in the top 10.
