But if it did happen I would have to favor Hopkins at this point because of his skills, experience and rough house tactics.

I get you and I respect your opinion. It would be a very interesting fight, Hopkins is still very crafty and smart. However, Golovkin is very smart as well, he picks his shots wisely and it turns out his shots are unusually powerful - combined with intelligence, speed, precision and a workrate that will wear you down. Golovkin is a very different animal to what boxing is used to seeing, he has dynamite on those fists and he connects them with short hooks which are harder to time and avoid. I know I stress about his power a lot but it truly is a big factor with Gennady.

He tags you with a heavy jab and when he unloads his combinations you will feel them, I don't think Hopkins will be able to take that kind of power. And I think Triple G's workrate and power will make Bhop turn into a very defensive shell not allowing him to connect enough to win rounds.
