    You are repeating what I've just said, the reason for far smaller gates in the modern sport is that Vegas has a virtual monopoly on super fights. Isn't that what I said? I never once mentioned there aren't fighters OR fights that won't gather huge crowds, of course they will. Put Pacquiao or Cotto or Mayweather or Martinez or Marquez or Alvarez in stadiums and they will bring the numbers. The problem is, as you've mentioned and as I did in my original post, Vegas does not have those stadiums yet it houses the major fights....hence those days ARE gone.

    Unless we have more promoters shunning the bright lights and supposed big bucks that can "only" be found in Vegas, as Arum did with Pacquiao and as the Klitschko's promoters have done in Europe, we will not have the type of crowds seen pre-1980.

        That was just an estimate, the official figure was 120,557 which is still a very substantial amount of people
