    Comments Thread For: British Board Backs Frank Warren in Smith Dispute

    The British Boxing Board of Control have today decided that British Super-Featherweight Champion Stephen Smith will not be allowed to defend his title on any promotion other than that of his promoter Frank Warren, which is scheduled for Saturday 7th December at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

    Earlier this month, Smith announced that he would participate in the defence of his title against Gary Sykes on Saturday 23rd November in Manchester on a show promoted by Eddie Hearn.

    Who ever shot frank should have done a proper job of it, he deserves this streak of bad luck where fighters are leaving him for matchroom.

      As much as Warren is a total prick, you can't just do what you like and break contract because you feel like it. Smith was poorly advised and only has himself to blame.

        Surely he can blame the person who advised him too

          @Wesker...agreed.

          Warren can be a total ****splash but he gave the guy a legally binding contract, which Smith duly signed, and Warren is well within his rights to expect that agreement to be honoured. Just because he is unpopular with many fans and fighters does not mean he does not have rights.

            Frank Warren should take out an injunction to prevent Smith from performing on the Matchroom bill.

            He cannot apply for a specific performance injunction as it is a contract for personal services.

              I don't know what went wrong, Smith was set to fight on the same card as Liam and Paul, and then randomly went awol to Eddie Hearn. Why wouldn't he just fight on the Frank Warren Smith brothers triple header and then make his exit plans. Now you have the BBBofc breathing down your kneck who agree with Warren.
