Does he plan on any awakening as far as PED testing goes? Because he's refused it on 3 separate occasions now. Not a good look on this guy

If this is the Rodriguez that beat Rosinsky a couple of years back (?), I can't see him being much trouble to the champ unless Ward suffers from ring rust and/ or his shoulder is permanently damaged. Hell, even then he should be able to get past Rodriguez.

          Good luck champ!

i take it you are new to boxing and dont have a firm grasp of business. see when you write up a contract, you do so for a reason. the contract is whats there to make sure everyone follows what has been agreed upon. as you negotiate the contract thats when you bring up anything you want to be a factor in the fight. from purse, to location and drug testing.

once the contract is signed the fight is made and the time for negotiations are over. it doesnt matter what you ask for, you won get it and you shouldnt. you had your chance, ward and his team moved on to training camp and wont let negotiations interrupt their focus.

i dont know everything about ward refusing drug testing, ppl claim it happened three times. this is the first time ive heard of it and it clearly doesnt count as the request was made too late. ward wasnt going to agree to anything rodruguez asked for at that point and rodriguez knew it, its all a plot to make ward lose focus and get under his skin.

if someone ever makes a serious request for drug testing im sure ward will oblige.

Abraham was doing drug testing and wanted it before the fight was finalized, didn't happen then either. I don't remember when Froch asked for it.

That's true. But when you say something like this:

BT: So you're looking to help bring about change to the sport by shedding more light on the subject of improved drug testing policies?

AW: I wanted to take things a step further and implement it, not just talk about it, and be one of the first to actually do it outside of Floyd Mayweather.
You'd better come up with a better reason to refuse testing than just saying that negotiations are over.

He asked for OST for the Froch fight himself, but never went through with. Why I don't know.

                  Ward said:

Andre Ward: I believe Carl is a clean fighter, but I just think that with a fight of this magnitude, it would be great for the sport to implement something like Olympic-style drug testing. The goal is to go through with it even if Carl doesn't want to, but again, the cost could be an issue, so we'll see.

this is the first time ive heard of it and it clearly doesnt count as the request was made too late. ward wasnt going to agree to anything rodruguez asked for at that point and rodriguez knew it, its all a plot to make ward lose focus and get under his skin.

Ward lost the public relations battle here. When you advocate for stricter testing and put yourself forward as a role model, you surely have to come up with a better excuse to refuse testing than just saying "It doesn't stand in the contract".

You have to wonder why Ward would risk lose so much face in the public. Is it because agreeing to random testing would reveal an even bigger disaster?

That's what we are talking about here.

I got a feeling this is going to be a boring, dirty fight. Ward with his headbutts and Rodriguez with his rabbit punches. I hope I'm wrong though.
