  • Comments Thread For: Dereck Chisora-Matteo Modugno Set For November 30

European Heavyweight Champion Dereck Chisora gets to do an Italian job on unbeaten Italian challenger Matteo Modugno at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday 30th November.

The big-punching Finchley star has recaptured his form winning all three fights this year by stoppage and aims to stop Modugno to cap a fantastic year as he looks for a world title shot in 2014.

Chisora, 29, captured the European title last month with a devastating display to smash German Edmund Gerber inside five rounds, showing that he is back to his best and ready for a second world title opportunity.

In his way stands the 6′ 6½″ undefeated challenger from Langhirano who also packs a whack with eight stoppages in 14 fights and his last four fights have all ended by KO. The 26-year-old is the Italian champion and holds a win over fellow countryman and former European champion Paolo Vidoz. [Click Here To Read More]

    Who?

Warren is such a shit promoter. He got bullied out of Sky by Matchroom for no other reason than how poor his cards are. You'd think that would spur him to make better fights, handle his fighters better but no...

He's still content to put on below par fight cards and then expect people to pay a subscription fee for his channel. Now I like boxing and BoxNation do offer a lot of international boxing on their channel but I refuse to give Warren any money until he sorts out his stable.

      Poor opponent selection. Disappointing.

Modugno isn't rated in the top 20 of the EBU rankings: http://media.wix.com/ugd/dd6960_0cea...81d4b36120.pdf

For anyone interested, it's the guy in the black shorts:

at short notice its fine. there are no other fighters to defend the belt against available or willing to face delboy.

as a chisora fan, its a ****e opponent. but for the EU belt, there not much available.
he equivalent of likes of kerstn manswell, greer type opponent.

What I don't get is why he had to defend the EBU belt so soon. He's only just won the title, couldn't he fight a North American heavyweight in the mean time?

which north american fighter would be

            1. available on november 30th
            2. would actually want to fight delboy

answer: not many. as all hanging about for a klitschko payday. however the best bet would have been tony thompson or seth mitchell

mind you seth vs tony is a good fight in itself

Let me get this straight..... the EBU would NOT approve Wach as an opponent, but they approved Matteo Modugno?

Kingpin Johnson was angling for a fight not long ago.

Thompson or Mitchell would also have been fine, Thompson in particular as he's still top 10. A Mitchell fight could've set up an Arreola showdown.

Neither in the EBU top 20. It's pathetic really, let's call it as it is.
