Don't know about the double standard, but Golovkin is seriously an asshole beating up random strangers. Don't know how people are translating this into badass.

This was when he was a kid. He was 8 or 9 when his eldest brother died, 12 or 13 when he lost the other. What's he gonna do if his big brothers are siccing him on guys - 'course he's gonna want to impress them at that age.

Not exactly that I'm saying it's cool or anything, but combat sports and fighting are very much a part of the culture in the central asian states - it's like, if you choose a sport it's between boxing or wrestling not Basketball or the NFL.

Whatever, Gennady comes across as decent guy, though it certainly sounds like he still had his share of streetfights through his teens, that's long in his past now.

No one said he jumped or beat up the strangers. From what I understood of it is they sort of fought fairly, but no details were really given.
