That's why he was able to stop Alvarado when Rios was unable to in their 2nd fight.
Alvarado was able to box Rios in the rematch but he also looked like he was on punch away from being stopped for most of the fight. Every time Rios touched him he shook him up. I'm not so sure he's more relentless than Rios either, Provodnikov has stamina issues and Rios usually gets stronger as the fight goes on.

Idk, I don't think Provo could stop him. At least I wouldn't believe until I seen it.

I agree, Rios usually gets stronger as a fight goes on but Provo never seemed to be bothered by Alvarado's power while Rios was staggered in that rematch at one point. I almost didn't beleive it. To side with you a little though, I don't think Rios was expecting a better version of Mike to show up. I think he took the rematch a little lightly. Lets hope he doesn't take Pacquiao that way. That could be a career ending mistake.

I agree he's more fast on his feet than Rios and has pretty decent skill when throwing and hits like hard.

            My BULLDOG LIST :

Ruslan tops it with his straight ahead style yet somewhat technical with his dodging shots and countering viciously at the same time. HE cuts the ring off supremely.

He has greatly progressed under Roach, and yet MORE from the Bradley fight to this one, and showed he is a real live player.

Rios has the tendency to switch off and eat several punches flush. Ruslan was getting caught with the occasional hard shot but it was always singles as he'd block the first few of a combo or move his head or get his guard up.

Also Brandon was following Alvarado around the ring instead of cutting him off, and that gave Mike more space to tee off. Provodnikov was not giving Alvarado that much time and space.

I think Rios trained purely for a war in their 2nd fight. He has proven before he can cut off the ring well against more mobile fighters (e.g. Acosta). I think he expected more of the same from the first fight and wasn't mentally prepared to chase Alvarado down so plodded after him expecting the pace to change - but it never did. I chalk that one up to inexperience.

Hope he fights Rios next, regardless of how he does against Manny.

Dang, that would be good. Rios would be cool too if his fight vs Pacroid ends in a 1st or 2nd round TKO. If Rios is in a war he would be even more damaged-- too damaged for Ruslan........but if the money is right.....

Ruslan loses to and couldn't make Mauricio Herrera fight his fight but he almost kills Bradley and Alvarado? Hmm........ Freddy "the Magician" Roach's fighters sure have a knack for suddenly becoming super men.

Alvarado needs to hire Ariza and become a super man too before he rematches Ruslan.
