Such a shame. But a wake up call for those who criticize boxers that retire or are retired by their corners. Boxing is brutal and as much as we love the sport we should appreciate how much these guys put on the line when they step into the ring for our entertainment.

I think Sugar Ray Robinson killed a boxer in the ring. What really was even more ominous was that Sugar Ray days before the fight had a nightmare that it would happen and wanted to cancel the fight but his minister advised him that it wouldn't happen.

Kovalev was shaken up alot after Simakov's death I believe he even dedicated his entire fight Purse to Simakov's parents/family but he's doing well now, still knocking guys out and considered one of the top brutal punchers in the sport. Nigel Benn I t hink was never the same after what he did to Mclellan

Boxing is definitely a courageous sport. The guys have balls of iron steel knowing the worst could happen. Hell, it has to be extremely traumatic for the boxer who killed his opponent.

And Eubank was never the same after Watson. Lost his desire to look for the KO, just cruise to points victories.

I'm surprised Kovalev still retained his insane KO instincts.
