  • Just watched First Take talk about Mayweather's ATG status.

Here's a couple lines from the segment:

Stephen A. Smith: "Boxing isn't about standing there and trading punches like Andre Ward and Arturo Gatti." (RIP)

Stephen A. Smith also said that Canelo is a one punch knockout artist.

2 Chainz mentioned that Mayweather and Leonard didn't fight in the same weight class.

Skip Bayless said some things, but I can't recall. I wasn't really paying attention to be honest. I guess in Stephen A.'s defense, I'll assume he meant Micky Ward, not Andre Ward. Still a pretty bad mistake though. I don't even know why I bothered to watch. I guess being such a huge fan, I always listen, read or watch when boxing is the subject, for better or for worse.

He had to have meant Mickey Ward.

And honestly, after seeing these two agree that Mayweather would be too fast for Marvin Hagler, I could not care less about what they have to say about boxing.

After both mayweather and Pacqiao retire.

I understand your point about not being able to turn away. If I'm flipping through the channels and see anything boxing-related, I stop and watch. Deep down, we know First Take isn't worth our time, but it's hard not to listen for a minute or two.

In any case, what I don't understand is how these people can go on national television and, in good conscience, talk on subjects about which they know nothing. It's not even about their uninformed opinions. They just say stuff that is factually incorrect -- how are they so flippant that they can go out there and make **** up? At least Fat Rafael goes on there occasionally and points out when they just get things wrong.

Beyond just the people at ESPN, why the hell is 2 Chainz even invited to share his "thoughts" on a nationally televised sports program? They do this **** all the time. You don't see Patrick Willis sharing his opinions on when and how to adjust the smokiness of an arrabiata sauce or why you should pair a chianti with a tender veal cutlet with Giada on Everyday Italian.

It's always funny when you know a sport so well, and then you hear people that know nothing about it run their mouths. Wilbon comes to mind.

ESPN really should stop pretending to care about boxing

ESPN also just did a 30 for 30 on Tupac Shakur.

Can someone post a video? Also who is 2 chains?

                    Never heard of him before.

I like first take its the only thing I enjoy watching on ESPN its a true guilty pleasure, but seriously I think Skip is a legit Pactart, Pacquiao fans are similar to Tyson fans, they only like one fighter, and will continue reminiscing about Pacquiao, majority of the Pacquiao fans are Tyson fans, they only like exciting ferocious fighters and don't like technical boxing.

Stephen A is not really a flowmo, he is the one playing it up because he agreed with Skip a while back like two years ago that Floyd was ducking, and than later he changed his mind, Stephen A also seem more comfortable around Pacquiao than he does Floyd, so it makes me wonder if he really is a flowmo or just playing up the part, he actually seems more friendly with Pacman and comfortable around him than he does Floyd.
