    Comments Thread For: Fowler Shocks Mytrofanov in Almaty Quater-Finals

    Liverpool middleweight Anthony Fowler upset Ukrainian second seed Dmytro Mytrofanov to march into the quarter-finals of the World Championships in Almaty on Monday.

    Fowler produced one of the finest performances of his career to claim a unanimous verdict over the powerful second seed, who had stopped Olympic silver medallist Fred Evans in a World Series of Boxing bout in London in May.

    Fowler will now face Germany's Stefan Haertel - who beat him in the last 16 of the European Championships in Minsk in June - in the quarter-finals when a guaranteed medal will be at stake.

    I really like the look of Fowler, only 22 too.

    He impressed me in the WSB and I hope he turns over soon, definitely suits the pro game. Think this was his debut fight in the WSB against American Marquis Moore;

        Wow, I couldnt believe it when I saw the result, A shame I waked up late, It would have been great to watch it.

        Mytrofanov is a beast, and Fowler shut him down 3-0 in all judges scorecards, that's impressive.

        Here Mytrofanov stopping Olympic Silver Medallist Fred Evans

          Another Upset at the World Championships

          England Super Heavyweight, Joe Joyce, got stopped in the first round versus an unkown Algerian.

          I like this format better, without the headgears, there are more stoppages, and more of a pro style.

          Here a very good fight between Joe Joyce and Ukranian Heavyweight Star Oleksander Usyk at the WSB, Joyce gave Usyk a very tough fight.
