Would love to see this fight for 2014, cinco de mayo or mexican independence day in vegas would be nice, for cotto fans the garden before the PR day parade would be great, but not sure if this fight will happen.

Going to back Canelo for sure but would not be surprised to see cotto win a close UD especially in NY

The "perfect time" window to make this fight is closing. Hopefully it doesn't happen too late because at this very moment many people will give Cotto a chance to take it. In a year or two, depending on how many wins or losses Cotto stacks up, people will see it as a total mismatch or maybe the interest stays the same.

350-400k buys? Are you ******? That fight will be doing over a million buys 1.5 if they allow Canelo to have a great come back fight first.

I think Cotto has the style to trouble Sergio, but I got him taking a knee against Canelo somewhere around rd 10.

Mayweather embarrassed Canelo but Sergio is supposed to take a knee? WTF?

As Cotto puts it ("later in my career"), I suspect he has in mind a middleweight fight... Am I wrong?

let me start off by saying styles make fights... the only thing I have ever seen Cotto troubled by is volume. You have to be able to out throw and out work him. I dont think a guy who sits in the pocket and threw 450 punches over 12 rounds of vs Austin trout and not too much more against Mayweather is going to trouble Cotto too much.all Four fighters that have beaten Cotto (including the hand wrapping incident) were all able to outwork him.

for those claiming Cotto will get "countered to death", understand this... Floyd Mayweather is the greatest counter puncher in the game.Floyd landed about 50 percent of his shots on Canelo and landed only 26% on Cotto. Floyd had hella trouble landing on Cotto who since the PAC pummeling has been light years better defensively (never a bad defender, just had holes that are much harder to expose now) after working with steward.

My prediction for this fight would be Cotto by TKO in 8 or 9
I saw Floyd hurt Canelo with some shots
I saw trout hurt canelo to the body
                      I see Cotto stopping Canelo

just remember youve never seen canelo in the ring with a guy who resembles Cotto in the slightest.

I would also (because stylesymake fights) pick Cotto TKO over an overrated Martinez. I have been saying that Martinez is overrated since his one punch knockout Paul Williams. Sergio has been fighting a lot of slow guys with no footspeed. wait till Sergio steps in the Ring with a fighter with great food speed and great hand speed and good defense and then we'll see what's up
