        lol ^^^^

This is what I'm talking about. Why the hell does that bother you so much? Obviously he's a limited fighter and not the most skilled. NO ONE is dis*****g that. But his style produced a FOTY candidate and another good fight last night and he made two world champions dig deep, one could and one couldn't.

It's not like every single boxer in the world now is a slugger/brawler because Ruslan just fought on HBO. Relax there's 100's of boxing events a year and you will see all kind of styles, including your favorite. Why do you have to complain about GOD FORBID having to watch a brawler for one measley night?

I've got a feeling that that poster is some dude parodying the more ****** Mayweather/Broner fanboys, so I wouldn't take him seriously.

There's a weird snobbery against pressure fighters. Last night was supposed to be a bar room brawl but that fight had a lot of offensive skill - but then this is the era of Mayweather, where defensive skill is seen as better than offensive skill, where "just keep on winning" is pushed by fans over the idea of giving us better fights.

Someone on this site made a great point years ago - that people confuse SPEED with skill. And that is why guys like Margarito and Froch are considered skilless, whereas Devon Alexander and Amir Khan somehow got mad skills. And so then the discussion could be about what defines "skill".

One more thing. The big elephant in the room is that a lot of these discussions have a racial subtext to them. The non-black posters jump on a Ruslan, like they did Matthyse and Golovkin, viewing him as some sort of slayer of the slick African-African style.

Then you've got the black fanbase, who take against these guys - maybe in retaliation, maybe because the sense of racial solidarity overrides everything else - and then there's all this ****** back and forth between both sides.

You might think I'm exaggerating but if you've been on this site enough, you know the signs. As soon as Ruslan emerged as a force, I knew exactly who would like him and who would take against him.

I mean hypeojob in a sense that everyone's going around saying he would get outboxed easilly by a good boxer, etc etc. Obviously it's not rocket science to figure out that a highly skilled boxer would take advantage of his style and outclass him.....

It's also not rocket science to look at him and be able to think that there's even a SMALL possibility that he can give a decent boxer some fits and be somewhat competitive if he can successfully cut off the ring.
There will inevitably be increased hype about a guy who just demolished a strong champion in Alvarado. Similarly to when Matthysse KOd Peterson. I feel Ruslan is more real though. This guy is serious. Watching that face-off just made me happy I wasn't going to fight him! And I knew then that Alvarado wouldn't do it. Not saying he was shook, but I think he knew going in that it wasn't his night. Didn't look healthy at the weigh-in so maybe camp didn't go well.

Regardless, I think Ruslan is being underrated a little bit. People are on about his lack of skills, but he just out pointed and beat down a sound fighter AND boxer. And also did some damage to Bradley who spent 6 weeks in the hospital after!

Broner should fight him after the Maidana fight......it should be "easy work" right?

He's good, he's the real deal. But he's already getting hyped up in fantasy match ups.People are high off the Alvarado win and their former god is low off a a Garcia loss, so now there is no doubt in their minds that Provodnikov beats Matthysse.

Fans are very sensitive to wins and losses. When some dude wins a big fight, they could beat just about any one, any style, no matter what.

                  1. Matthysse knocks out Mike Dallas Jr and Lamont Peterson: "Matthysse could knock out Mayweather and Pacquiao."

                  2. Garcia is shook, he don't wanna fight Matthysse.

                  3. Fight gets signed. "Matthysse under 6 rounds! You heard it here first."

                  4. Matthysse drops a clear decision to Garcia "If it wasn't for that one punch that closed Matthysse's eye, he would have knocked out Garcia."

                  5. Provodnikov knocks out Alvarado "Provodnikov beats Matthysse because Matthysse showed he does not react well to adversity in the Garcia fight."

Very sensitive to wins and losses. This is the only sport i've seen where a fighter can have a couple of good nights and be HOF bound, and follow it up with one bad night and be completely outmatched in fantasy fights.

I think the lucastards remember what happened so ruslan won't get that extreme hype. There is similarity tho just like how ruslan lost to Bradley and people say he was robbed. And Lucas lost to Judah and people make excuses and say he was robbed lol
