If sanchez hadn't of died he would surely have been the greatest, as it is i say that he was knowing that fact, my logic is lame but then so is the logic of the some fans on here.
It's between sanchez and Ricardo lopez, i have an opinion and since it doesn't compute with you i should cease talking about boxing? gimme a break.
    Sanchez....

A great fighter....but overrated because of his untimely death.
In between his biggest wins....were tough, distance-going fighters who were obliterated by other fighters.
Sanchez barely beat Pat Ford. He won a very close decision over him. The same Pat Ford was brutally dissected & stopped by Eusebio Pedroza.
Pat Cowdell......made Sanchez look ordinary, taking Sal the route. The same Pat Cowdell was knocked unconscious in one round by Azumah Nelson.

Sanchez struggled terribly with guys who didn't play right into his counterpunching hands.
Danny Lopez was so ready to be taken, when Sanchez took him. "Little Red" was the personification of a face-first fighter.
Wilfredo Gomez ? A great win for Sal....but let's remember that all of Gomez's great work was done at 122.
Nelson was a 13-fight substitute when he gave Sanchez all he could handle. A more seasoned, mature Nelson would have defeated Sanchez.

Chavez.....dominated 130, before a struggle to make weight forced him to rise.
So...what did this "fraud" do ? He went up to 135, where he completely destroyed Edwin Rosario. All Rosario was at the time....was a conscensus top 5 lb4lber, & arguably the sport's biggest hitter. Chavez gave him one of history's worst beatings.

Chavez moved up to 140....& engaged in a classic battle with the sport's second-best fighter, Meldrick Taylor. Yeah.....he moved up & did this.
The fight was controversial, indeed. But, it was incredibly well fought.
How would have Sanchez done if he moved to 130 & fought a 130lb version of Meldrick Taylor ? He'd have lost, considering he struggled with guys half as talented as Meldrick, down at 126.
Chavez lost to Whitaker. Pernell Whitaker is one of the greatest fighters ever, & is considered one of the best pure boxers of all time.

I'm not telling you Sanchez was not great. He was. But, his death, & the fact that so many on here weren't around while he was champ, has lead many to completely overrate him.

Chavez won three titles.....& fought the best competition out there. Call him a "fraud" ? Anyone who does so, is a fraud of a fight fan.

Lol, this tells me that you don't know **** about Sanchez. You say all this **** out of your ass. Your just a hater of Sanchez. He stopped Nelson, if he would've fought Nelson again he would've stopped him for second time. Don't make it sound like Sanchez had gifts from the judges, that is just BS. I know alot more about Sanchez, then your sorry ass, I've seen more fights of Sanchez, then you have.

Sanchez died at the age 23. By the age of 23 he's beaten Gomez, Nelson, Lopez & Laporte. You will never find a better resume for a 23 years old fighter. Laporte clearly beat Chavez, but he was robbed.

Sanchez is the greatest Mexican boxer of all time & in my opinion he's the greatest Featherweight of all time. He's true legend & don't be a smart ass to put down a great legend like Sanchez.

      Lol & lol!

Where do I say that Sanchez got gifts from the judges ?
        No where !

I said he struggled greatly with certain guys, & especially with guys who did not come to him.

I am not a Sanchez hater....I think he was agreat fighter. But, he has become overrated.

You need to learn how to read, buddy. Not just how to spell, make out words.....I'm talking about comprehension.

Also, I will guarantee you know less about Sanchez than I. Were you a boxing fan while he was champion ?
Did you see his fights with Cowdell, Ford, Castillo, Garcia, etc. ?
Obviously not, or else you'd know what I was saying (remember, hard fights, not gifts) has a great deal of validity.

Wow, you didn't reply yesterday, it's funny suddenly you reply now, lol, I know why you replied today. You kinda made it sound like Sanchez lost those fights, fights that you haven't even seen. In fact you have not seen any of those fights. Answer me this, what did the ring floor looked like in each of those fights or tell me the writing on the ring for each of the fights??? Let me just make you look like a fool, since you think you know alot. Hope you get lucky finding some pictures on the internet.

I was a big Sanchez fan when I was a kid, it's easy to make yourself look smart when you have internet front of you. Answer my question, because you need to have the fights to answer my question.

Also if a great fighter doesn't have a great performance against an OK fighter, that doesn't mean ****. Sanchez in his biggest fights was great, just go watch the Gomez fight or the Nelson fight.

Anyone is overrated is Chavez or Barrera of today, so don't even say that Sanchez is overrated, because it's not true.

You pretend to know alot about boxing, you are full of **** 99% of the time. You just dig a big hole for yourself, because I will school you on anything about boxing.

What did the ring floor look like ? Don't remember. I don't have tapes of his fights. But, I saw his televised fights from Lopez I, on...

I loved him while he was fighting. But, he has been over-romanticized because of his early death.

He struggled with Ruben Castillo, but Castillo gave everyone, including Arguello & LaPorte, fits.
I remember him looking very ordinary against Cowdell, with the exception of a 15th round knockdown.

I remember him looking great against Castanon...why ? Because Castanon came right at him.

Does the internet give this kind of information ?

Can you tell me about the Castanon fight, at all.

Yeah you could be right, I'ts common for people to be overhyped or rated if they die early or in a tragic or mysterious fashion, 2Pac, bruce lee is a biggie, james dean etc etc.

I kinda fell for that myself, he was good and i am sure he would have given any featherweight a hard fight but just not what he is made out to be.

                  sorry for the smack talk

No the internet doesn't give any BS information like that. If you seen these fights then answer my question, don't say you don't have the fights. You are talking about 25+ years ago, what were you 11 or 12, the only way you can judge these fight, is if you own them & you've already said you don't own the fights.

When I was a kid, I couldn't judge the fight the same way I do now. Everything you said is coming from a kids mind at that time. If you don't own the fights, then your 11 years old opinion means nothing.

Bruce Lee is not hyped, the idiots that put Bruce Lee down have no clue what Bruce Lee was. Yea you can say that 2 Pac & Biggie etc. That's show business, it's not boxing, you can't compare the two. I suggest you should go find a collection of Sanchez fights on some DVD or VHS before you think he's overrated.
