He made a huge mistake by picking an extremely poor new trainer who not only suggested Prescott as an opponent, but also gave Khan a game plan which involved rushing in on Prescott, trying to KO him early. It was a game plan which would probably get almost any elite fighter in serious trouble against a power puncher like Prescott who is always very dangerous early on in fights. Needless to say, that trainer only trained Khan for the one fight. His game plan was essentially getting a weight-drained fighter to run at a proven power puncher (Prescott at the time had a 94% KO ratio in 19 fights).

Against Garcia, Khan went through one of his worst camps ever, largely due to the faults of the core training team. He had just split ways with Alex Ariza, his long time strength and conditioning coach. Instantly, this was a pretty significant alteration to the team. What made things much worse was that Freddie Roach was busy training Pacquiao in the Philippines for the Bradley fight so Khan didn't even have his main trainer consistently in the camp. Footage of Khan sparring during this camp just served to highlight how poor training was going, Khan was basically trying to brawl with a middleweight, technique was virtually non-existent, and Freddie Roach wasn't even in the same country at the time.

Peterson of course has always been a non-consideration. Not only did Khan have to deal with a crooked referee and bent judges, essentially getting robbed by points, but we later found out that Peterson had been using PEDs for that fight, he'd been cheating all along.
Dude, I'm as big a Khan fan as anyone, but these are excuses, and you are doing him a disservice with them.

That said, I party agree with the last bit. Peterson got away surprisingly lightly with the PED use. He only got a short suspension, and the decision wasn't even overturned. And what's more, hardly any fans have labelled him a "roids cheat". I think it's because the victim was Khan, and when it comes to Khan (or any other guy it's hip to hate, like Broner or Donaire), the public is like "serves him right".

I'm a khan fan, he is entertaining. But he has 2 legitimate KO losses to Prescott and Garcia. The PEDerson loss i don't really count but it is there as well.

The decision wasn't overturned because he didn't test positive for the first fight, he tested positive before the second fight.

PEDerson got a year suspension and was stripped of every title except the IBF, which I can't explain. He was rightfully disgraced and then fed to Lucas Matthysse.

I think it was Kellerman who said something worthwhile for a change when he talked about how Khan gets punished for doing what we as fans should want fighters to do.
Agreed, Khan has been through some tricky times with training camps and lack of professional etiquette with certain trainers, or simply under-qualified trainers. This basically accounts for his 2 losses in my view. Had Khan not been weight-drained against Prescott, and if he'd had a normal training camp against Garcia, it almost goes without saying that he'd beat those two fighters relatively easily. He beat Peterson even when Peterson was on PEDs, it was just the crooked ref and bent judges gave the drug-riddled cheat Peterson the decision.

Actually the Giant Sloth, otherwise known as the Megatherium, was one hell of an ATG fighter.

I like Pacquiao but are you really in a position to be talking about fighters being layed on the canvas? Khan has been knocked down, but he's never been knocked out unlike....

Khan was good under Roach, Roach knew his strengths, played to his strengths as an excellent ambush fighter.

Khan now has regressed under Hunter, the Garcia KO took a lot out of him...

Khan did look drained before the Prescott fight. He had the sunken in cheeks look. But you must accept that Khan has very poor punch resistance.

Khan will live to regret leaving Roach.

True, but iirc he admitted to using PEDs before the first fight, too, as treatment for low T levels (which he said he forgot about...).

And he wasn't really 'disgraced' imo. Yeah, he was stripped of the WBA belt, but he got hardly any backlash from the boxing public. He came back after his suspension against high profile opponents and everyone pretty much acted like nothing had happened.

Imagine if it had been Khan who tested positive for anabolic testosterone and offered a weak excuse like that. He would have probably gotten lynched.
