Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is coming off a controversial win over the always tough Brian Vera as many felt Vera should’ve been awarded the victory. When I spoke to Chavez immediately after the fight, he informed he did not feel a rematch with Vera was necessary.
Things have certainly changed since then as there have been talks of a rematch taking place early next year. Chavez Jr still feels he won the fight convincingly but would be willing to fight a rematch if it would clear any doubt people may have.
“Well, if the people want to see that fight, we have to give it to them. But I thought I won the [first] fight. It wasn’t my best performance and I agree with that. I had a year of inactivity and a lot of problems. But I think I got my rhythm and I think a rematch would be good if the people still have doubt.
