  • Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: It's a Challenge, But I Can Still Make 160!

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is coming off a controversial win over the always tough Brian Vera as many felt Vera should’ve been awarded the victory. When I spoke to Chavez immediately after the fight, he informed he did not feel a rematch with Vera was necessary.

Things have certainly changed since then as there have been talks of a rematch taking place early next year. Chavez Jr still feels he won the fight convincingly but would be willing to fight a rematch if it would clear any doubt people may have.

“Well, if the people want to see that fight, we have to give it to them. But I thought I won the [first] fight. It wasn’t my best performance and I agree with that. I had a year of inactivity and a lot of problems. But I think I got my rhythm and I think a rematch would be good if the people still have doubt. I don’t think there’s doubt but I just didn’t look my best or in the best form” informed Chavez. [Click Here To Read More]

I'll bet anyone that he will never make 160 ever again... kid is almost a heavyweight & doesn't take the sport seriously.

Why is he even looking to 160? Andre Ward, Stevenson, Kovalev, all are big names he can fight and not have to kill himself to make weight. This cat is a pu$$y, always looking for smaller fighters.

Agree... he is a nobody that was lucky to be chavez sr's son... if only took the sport seriously, he could be the biggest mexican star out there.

I suspect he will be positioned to fight Bika, but i'd love to see him fight Froch either instead, or after Bika.

I came in here to say this.^^^ He looked extremely drained making 174, what makes him think he could go lower?

Chavez JR is a Light Heavyweight in denial.
