Comments Thread For: Malignaggi on Why He's Close To Inking With Al Haymon

Former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7KOs) is close to becoming the last addition to the stable of powerful boxing adviser/manager Al Haymon, who has such fighters as Floyd Mayweather, Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Chris Arreola, Victor Ortiz, Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse and an army of others.

Malignaggi has long been a critic of how Haymon's fighters get a lot more money, the biggest pushes and lucrative television showcases. After getting contacted by Haymon associate Sam Watson, and having some very positive conversations, Malignaggi is poised to bring Haymon on board.

While a deal has not been signed, Malignaggi says his discussions with Team Haymon are going in the direction of finalizing a deal. [Click Here To Read More]

Hardly surprising, is it? Dude was one of the biggest proponents of the 'Pac's on PED's' claims and then next year he's training at the Wildcard gym.

He wasn't with Heymon when he got me decisions over Cano and the Cameroonian fella he fought several years back.

"I don't want to deal with politics."

Basically, Paulie is an honest fighter. He just wants a fair shake, and if he's with Haymon, he'll get a fair shake on the cards.

I agree. I've always felt like Paulie doesn't get the respect he deserves.

unfourtanetly all this does is turn Paulie into a hyprocrite. Now he will be on the beneficial side of shady cards and he will be doing to other boxers what he has been crying about pretty much his entire career.

                  What a crock of ****

He disses the media for not keeping it real and then he signs with Al Haymon who rigs more fights than Don King ever dreamed of

Paulie isn't being a hypocrite. He said he wanted to be paid like a Haymon fighter, this is his chance. He looking out for his best interest. It isn't like he is going to suddenly stop being critical of the things wrong with boxing.
Good for him. I hope this new partnership does him well. He should be able to beat Judah, and I'm excited to see where that gets him.
