Respecting the fighters right to whine

    Seriously.

Do you understand what fighters go through? 8-12 week training camps where they put their bodies through hell, their lives on hold. Then to the fights themselves, which are these incredibly stressful and physically/mentally taxing endeavours.

So after all they have been through, to get to that moment when they think they've won, and the scorecards are read and they haven't....

Do you honestly begrudge them the right to complain? Not everyone can take defeats graciously like Pacquaio. This is an intense sport full of extreme emotions.

You want to tell the fans to get over it? That's fine, as long as there is still room for discourse (ie the Matthyse-Garcia fight).

But calling the fighters themselves whiny crybabies, especially when a fight is so close (and yeah, it was, despite how below-par JMM looked).

Just sometimes, take a step back and try to imagine yourselves in the fighters shoes. This isn't a post on a boxing forum to fighters, this is their livelihood.

    noted.

but when a fighter whines after EVERY loss, there's a point where you just want to tune him out.

he's a hof fighter who should act like one, win or lose.

Thank you! It's obvious many people here haven't competed in much of anything. Some people can take losses "gracefully" and other are too competitive and driven they just can't. I'm the same way as Marquez, if you beat me at anything, alright cool get the hell out of my face and let's do it again!

He didn't whine after the Mayweather loss, not even about getting screwed on the scales.

Like it or not, the Pac fights/Chris John/Bradley fights were all extremely close (Norwood I haven't seen so I won't comment on that). If he thinks he won, he should be allowed to say that.

You can disagree with the judges decision without disrespecting your opponent. Pacquiao is the example of how to handle yourself in a loss where you disagree with the decision.

                How did JMM disrespect Bradley?

Pacquaio is the exception. And let's not forget he used to complain too when he was young.

Again, I will reiterate - this is an intense sport full of extreme emotions. You guys live in some fantasy land where fights are expected to be cool-headed and gracious after losing a fight that could have gone either way. Look at Ruslan and the way he reacted after the Tim fight, and then in the Alvarado Face-Off. You stick a mic in these guys faces after fights and expect them to be philosophical and cool.

                Be serious.

                  why does that matter?

the whole "respect" thing is usually a prop to excite yourself up before the fight, game, etc. Afterwards, NO athlete every brings it up.

that fans take the "respect" crap seriously is puzzling .

Let's view it another way. Was Bradley disrespectful to Pacquiao by saying he clearly won the fight, despite everyone thinking the opposite? Wasn't Bradley just doing what JMM is doing now, except he got the call in his favour?
