Comments Thread For: Lomachenko vs. Ramirez - CompuBox Historical Review

Data from three of Vasyl Lomachenko's World Series of Boxing bouts (professional rules using three judges, no headgear, no t-shirts, regulation sized gloves, fighters were paid). Jose Ramirez landed 44% of his power shots in the split (should have been unanimous) decision win over Rey Bautista.

Not really certain about the provenance of this article because even though the WSB takes place under pro rules, it still takes place under the axis of the amateur circuit, which is typified by a low connect percentage. Also, isn't this at FW, not 135? Otherwise interesting.

What's the rush with this guy. Is he really that good?, or is this just a money grab? I, for one, don't believe Lomachenko can just blow away the top contenders and go from 3 to 12 rounds overnight. Boxing is dangerous and skipping steps is usually not a good idea.

He's been 5 rounds numerous times against opponents who are far better than the typical types prospects feast on as they come up, so it's not as if he's just been in 3 round bouts.

I've watched some of his WSB fights. If he's that good put him in front of Donaire first.

Im glad that they are putting in Vasyl Lomachenko in a 10 round fight for his official professional debut and possibly in against Cruz or Salido for his next fight. I don't understand why some complain that they are trying to move him to fast and then complain about other guys who they are moving too slow. I think that Lomachenko is officialy debuting at a way above average level then most, based on his previous accomplishments. So in my opinion if Lomachenko is asking for the tougher challenges and really does want to fight the best right away then great for him and great for us too because we will get to enjoy watching.

As if Donaire would get up for that fight.
