Should Wlad have been DQd against Povetkin?

Disregard possible outcomes of an early point deduction and base this fight on what it was. Do you think Wlad should have been disqualified for his constant grabbing-clinching antics?

Official CompuClinch numbers counted 176 clinches in the fight.

Yes if the ref repeatedly warned him,, but the ref let it go for 10 rounds before actually doing something,,,
Had the ref warned him in the 4,5th rounds then yes wlad should have been DQ'd, but no warnings were given,,
And once the warnings and the point deduction were given, wlad stopped clinching,, had the warnings come about 8 rounds earlier, it may have been a different fight

You're back I was kind of missing you on Saturday, would be fun to read your comments

Wlad does it all the time, it was a terrible performance I agree but mostly it was referee fault.

Tbh honest I wasn't really too bothered on the night. It was an awful fight - the two didn't gel well together at all. But Wlad certainly didn't try to do anything about it, Povetkin did. If I'm not mistaken I think it's the lowest output of punches Wlad has had for 10 years per round on avg.

I did read some things about people thought he was getting old and slow - Disagree with that completely. He looked pretty good on his feet Wlad. But yeah, would've loved to be in the mix on Saturday!

Povetkin made me a fan that night.

I agree there is no cause for a DQ without the warnings there should have been many warnings there were plenty of opportunities for them but the ref is just a pile of crap

If he was warned, then continue to do it yeah maybe. Point deduction in 3,4 round would do the trick IMO.

People are making too much out of it.

Even when he's blatantly in the wrong, you can find no fault in your boyfriend.

                  LOL, you two.

Wlad should have been warned in round 3 and deducted a point if he continued.

Povetkin didn't complain or, in fact, do anything with his free arm in the clinch. It looked like he was angling for a hug.

If the ref had warned him in the first few rounds when he should have then yeah...

I mean i don't like Amir Khan but he lost his fight for constantly pushing off.. but at least he was doing so in order to give him space to fight.. rather then just rest and clinch

Both are wrong.. but Wlad was far worse IMO..

IF you can't fight on the inside it doesn't give you the right to just foul constantly...

I mean he has a huge advantage with range and size.. his opponent has to get inside which is hard but when he does he is met by a 260lb muscled man just hugging him.. until the ref breaks them up and gets the fight back to range...

I do wonder what the likes of fraizer/Tyson would do to Wlad with a decent ref
