Carlos Amado Molina vs Victor Ortiz for the IBF 154 title

Just found this on Boxrec. It's been added to the Broner-Maidana card on December 14th. I'm a big fan of Ortiz's, but what did he do to deserve a title shot at 154?

People will watch it and that's all Showtime cares about.

Carlos Molina will fight anybody, so it's not like he's going to talk crap about how unworthy his opponent is of deserving a TITLE shot at a weight class you've NEVER fought at after losing 2 fights in a row.

    But hey, that's boxing

Why in the hell would they put ortiz in with molina,,,,, especially coming off a long layoff and a loss,,,,,,,,

Molina is going to box circles around him and win a UD and ortiz will be done as a top level guy......

I have no idea what GBP is doing,,,,, Should have just made Molina-lara or trout,,,,
And had ortiz fight someone like holt or somebody along those lines...

they are throwing ortiz to the wolves,,,

If they were going to cash him out, they just might as well done a canelo-ortiz ppv since they are both coming off losses,, and it would be an entertaining scrap and probably do pretty big box office numbers

Molina isn't a masterful boxer.... Ortiz has a chance. I think they're trying to set up Ortiz-Canelo next year. This is a winnable fight for Ortiz but Molina is a tricky style.

Ortiz does have the stuff to beat Molina but it will be tricky with him not being sharp. I am sure Molina doesn't give a **** ass about Ortiz being deserving or not because this fight will be his biggest payday against a bigish name that he has a good shot of winning. I am sure even he knows that Smith fight was booty so to get an opportunity like this this soon without having to sit around is great for him.

It really work well for both guys, it gives Ortiz a meaningful fight that if he wins will put him right back in the mix and the guy is not a big hitter to test his rebuilt jaw with, for Molina it is as I said before plus maybe he can look a bit better against Ortiz and make himself a bit more marketable.

They trying to set Molina up and get the belt in the hands of somebody that they can sell to the public.

Too bad they picked the wrong guy.
