Also, if Mares can rebound from his loss, he could still be the future. Dude fights everyone and anyone.
    Ye Rigo is a God

Just don't see Canelo beating any the up and coming contenders at 154 and he is too small for 160. Would love to be proven wrong tho.

You'd think Mares would be a shoe in. But I've always taught his chin was a bit shaky. He just has a great defense that hides it, and roles with punches well but I remember the 1 clean flush right hand Agbeko landed buckled him and I don't think the KD vs Vic was as much as a slip as made out to be after.

Truthfully I can't see mares competing with the top P4P guys.

I think one or two more big wins, especially a win over Mayweather, and Danny Garcia could be the next big boxing star. He's young, has a fan friendly style, and has overall good boxing skills. There are some great defensive wizards like Ward, Rigondeaux, and even Crawford. However, their styles are hard to sell to the public.

I don't really mean as in boxing stars. I mean who will we not be able to stop talking about for the next 10 years even if we want to. Who will we be looking back at going I remember in 2013 he was only 3-0 or 6-0 etc?

An example would be like when I watched an early Cotto fight today and they were talking about Miguel being the top of the class of amateurs who have recently turned pro and people expecting big things from him.

I cant see any of them matching their careers, but there are many young fighters in the sport today that have good skills and can do big things, I wont name any prospect because its too early :

          Mikey Garcia

          Danny Garcia

          Keith Thurman

Adrien Broner ( He really needs to get better though)

There are lots of good fighters to take their place. Rigo, GGG, Garcia, Matthysse, Bradley, Ward, Stevenson, Canelo, Thurman, Broner, Maidana, Alexander, The Russian who KOed Cleverly, Angulo, Lara, Trout and lots of other excellent fighters will keep boxing alive and well.

too early to tell, canelo looks like the likely candidate. guys like lomachenko, verdejo, mikey and danny garcia, and broner or good candidates. i think lomachenko (while not the blitzkrieg that pac is) has a really good chance at being an international star ala pacquiao if he turns out to be a big puncher as a pro. his defense is fun to watch ala prime tyson.
