Broner is not a PPV star. Ortiz hasn't fought in a while and is is going up in weight, I don't expect Angulo to struggle with Melendez. The best fight on paper is Karas/Thurman.

Still I can't justify the ppv status of this fight
This isn't about Broner being a PPV star now. Its about putting in the minds' of comsumers that you're gonna have to pay to see him fight from now on. Very similar to Floyd's first PPV against Gatti. Gatti was a bigger draw than Maidana. But it wasn't like he was a crossover guy. But Broner-Maidana isn't near the mismatch Floyd-Gatti was.

Ortiz gave Mayweather the most interesting fight from the last 6 years imo. Stylistically he was the biggest threat in comparison to the other opponents.

There were some that thought Gatti would give floyd a great fight. It wasnt that big of a difference when the fight was first made. Floyd was coming up in weight.

Not to shabby IMO. UFC is on that night for FREE on Fox. Pettis, Condit, Faber, Mendes all fighting.

That is dumb. The only reason that it "entertaining" is because ortiz cheated. Not because of skill

of course and why not? I mean why would any promoter want Molina as a champ? they out to make money and with Ortiz they will make more than with boring molina

As I recall, I don't remember a single hardcore fight fan or media member that thought this was anything other than a laughable mismatch. I don't think anyone outside of AC thought Gatti had a chance. And even the atmosphere in there before the fight you could tell the diehard Gatti fans knew what was up.
