    Ricky Hatton's timing training technique

I asked Ricky the reasons and origin of his foam stick while watching him work with Sonny Upton. Find out the reason Ricky uses the stick and where he got the idea from.

Actually it's not really new. Saul Alvarez probably got it from training in Mexico somewhere.

I use two foam sticks, use them the same way he described Alvarez. Richardson uses the towel, it's all the same concept to keep you sharp and nice and tight in your defense.

I know this I wasn't saying it was new you just don't see many U.K trainers using the technique so i thought I'd ask Ricky about it, it gives an insight to people who maybe hadn't seen it used before

Hatton should have used that rather than walking face forward toward punches. If Hatton had Cus Amato or Kevin Roney training him on slipping punches he probably could have beaten Floyd. Hatton would just walking in without any head movement so he caught right hands all night until he jumped right into the check hook

I could do that for a ****ing fortnight. Nobody is going to stand in front of you like that in a fight. Nobody is going to allow you to hit them that often without moving out of the ****ing way basically.

That's why its for warm ups. Nobody is going to stand there while a fighter stretches their legs either.
