  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Tim Bradley Refuses To Quit, Refuses To Lose

When Top Rank's Bob Arum signed Timothy Bradley to a promotional contract in 2011, the veteran promoter knew one thing for certain - he was getting a fighter with heart. Arum had seen it for himself when Bradley got up from two knockdowns to defeat Kendall Holt - who was fighting for Arum - in a super lightweight title unification bout in April 2009.

It was therefore no surprise to Arum the way Bradley (30-0, 12 KOs) defended his welterweight title against Ruslan Provodnikov via narrow unanimous decision last March at Home Depot Center (now StubHub Center) in Carson, Calif. It was a brutal bout in which Bradley again tasted the canvas and absorbed tremendous punishment - even in victory. [Click Here To Read More]

That may be to his detriment the fight, his fight against Ruslan is the type of fight that makes young fighter become old very quick and if Marquez is still packing the same power that knocked Pacquiao into oblivion this very well could be Bradley's last stand as an elite pugilist.

You would make a great boxer, when the going gets tough, just quit.
So if Bradley loses to JMM, he will be done as an "elite pugilist" AFTER HIS FIRST LOSS on his record? Serious? So now after your first loss you're done as an elite boxer.
I guess Pac is done (even tho he already had loses) I guess Rios is done also, why are they even fighting? I wonder why this wasnt relayed to the Klitch Brothers, they have been done by this logic.

I think heart is a great quality to have in boxing, I was criticizing his i.q.,yes other fighters have bounced backed from losses, but if you continue to take extended beatings you want last as elite fighter,I don't see why that is so hard for you to understand, win or lose if he takes another beating that causes him to lose his diction and suffer temporary memory loss again it will be to his detriment.

This is a slippery slope I'm about to jump on. But IMO, heart is an overrated quality for a fighter. Don't get me wrong. All fighters need a certain ammount of heart to make it at the highest level. But too much of anything is a bad thing. Miguel Cotto comes to mind. He took a lil heat in the build-up to the Margarito rematch because he made a statement stating to the fact that boxing is just a job. And that its ****** for a guy to be willing to die in the ring. Cotto has done quite well despite not having the mentality that he's willing to die in the ring. Heart is what got Timmy through his early struggles with Provodnikov. But that same heart is what almost got him KO'd in the final round. I'm not saying you can be a total chicken **** like say a "Popo" Freitas and make it. But you also don't have to be Antonio Margarito to be successful at the highest level.

Bradley lost his last two fights and he lost them clearly, including a blowout loss.
