Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis Rejects $50 Mill For Klitschko, Wants Double

Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis would be happy to make a sensational return to the ring to face IBF, WBA, IBO and WBO titlist Wladimir Klitschko - but only for 100 million dollars, the biggest purse in boxing history.

Lewis, who turned 48 last month, last fought professionally over a decade ago, but told the Daily Mail he would be ready to step back into the ring with only six months of training on the condition that he is paid USD 100 million, over double the purse that was guaranteed to Floyd Mayweather in his victory over Saul Alvarez last month.

Lewis says he was offered $50 million to end his retirement while he attended Klitschko's uninspiring unanimous decision victory over Alexander Povetkin in Moscow at the weekend, but would need double that to spring into action. [Click Here To Read More]

This is basically Lennox saying he is retired, but if someone does come up with the 100 million he has to man up, he put himself in a difficult situation here.
If Lennox can come back and win at his age and lay off he will be the greatest heavyweight of all time in my eyes. This is insane I hope he doesn't do it.

His best shot is against Wladimir but should stay far away from Vitali, but the way these Klit bros do their deals is if you beat one brother the other one gets a shot at you.

Lewis couldn't draw flies to his fights when he was active, even when he fought in his backyard in England. There is no way in hell anyone made a serious offer of $50 million to Lewis to fight Klitschko.

It looks like the ball is now in Wlad's court.

Did someone drill a hole in your brain? What is Wlad supposed to do?

How was the Lennox-Vitali fight controversial?

Vitali started off well, surprised Lennox (as well as most fans - not me who predicted he'd do well. I was also at the fight), then Lewis figured him out, hurt him, cut him & he couldn't continue.

Nothing controversial unless you like to be hysterical about things.

An old Lewis then retired & Vitali went on to prove what an excellent fighter he was/is.

Many underestimated him because of the way he quit against Chris Byrd but he's smarter than the average boxer. He realised that one loss isn't the end of the world but f.ucking his shoulder up worse could be the end of his career.

                    ^ This.

That type of money can lure anyone out of retirement. All he'd have to do is stay down after Wlad lands the first big right hand, wait after the 10 count, and then collects his fat check.
