Delvin Rodriguez told Tu Boxeo the following
:
"I was really prepared for this fight agains Miguel Cotto. Iknow that he is a great champion, so I trained the hardest that I have ever trained. I even called ex champion Antonio Margarito to get some advice on Cotto, because he has fought Cotto twice and knows him well. Margarito told me that Cotto does not hit hard and that he would gas out after the first 6 rounds. I was also advised by Margarito to take his punches until the 6th where Cotto would begin to slow down. I tried to do that, but Cotto hits harder than I anticipated. I think Margarito was not telling me the truth. My plan was to take over the fight after the 6th."
"I asked Margarito for help because he was a great champion and he was able to impose his will on Cotto. We are both about the same size and I thought that he would be really helpful."
LOL this is the best thread in a while. This is pure comedy though I can't stop laughing. Devin saying Margarito you lied to me!
This is funny, Margo was actually giving him advice, but the problem is for Margo anyones punch is not hard, the dude can eat punches for days. I mean you are dealing with a guy who was laughing on the way down as Mosley had to throw multiple hard shots and couldn't even knock him out the guy is not normal.Comment

He didn't lie
It's all perspective. For Margarito, maybe the shots didn't seem that hard and Margarito had him boxing off the back foot most of the time. And Margarito has an all time great chin. He is an ultra tough specimen and Rodriguez is simply not on that level. Margarito would have no reason to intentionally mislead Delvin.Delvin Rodriguez told Tu Boxeo the following

I understand why he asked Marg's for advice, but why did he actually listen to it? The second anyone says take punches until they tire out are complete idiots and it isn't surprising to me that Margarito replied exactly that. I mean, I never thought he actually went into the ring thinking that, I just figured he was like Gatti in that he just ended up in fights that way.Comment

He doesn't hit hard unless you're a complete turd like D-Rod. Shame on anyone who thought this turd was a decent barometer to gage whether or not Cotto still has gas left in the tank. This was nothing more than a non-competitive "appearance fight" that Arum cries on Al Haymon for.Comment
