Comments Thread For: Barker Has No Regrets on Facing Sturm in Germany

DARREN BARKER insists the chance of humbling Germany’s No.1 boxing star in front of his home fans is a risk worth taking. The Londoner will face Sturm, 34, in Stuttgart on December 7 having chosen to sacrifice home advantage against another opponent for a £1million pay-day in a first defence of his IBF world-middleweight title.

There have been a series of controversial decisions in Germany, one example being when Brit Martin Murray was held to a draw with ex-WBA champ Sturm in 2011.

But Barker, 31, has no concerns about retaining his title and defying the theory that foreign boxers have to knock out a German on home soil just to get a draw.

I want to see this guy earn a truck load of money and retire. Leave with a smile and financial security. He's given so much and lost so much, he deserves to walk away with a fighting chance of being happy and safe.

What barker has been through only magnifies what he has achieves inspite of it.

Great to hear a guy like Barker is getting a serious payday.
He's been through a ton of grief but has become a real peoples
champion. I only see him getting much better as a pro.

Probably doesn't. Shoot, if he loses there, he got a rematch in England for even more money.... he's fine

If Barker loses or gets robbed, they have to fight in england so it will be all good for Barker. I dont think Barker will need the rematch though.
