  • Cotto's Speed and Power

Regardless of the opponent last night, I thought Cotto's speed and power looked much more impressive then it has in years.

Do you think it was because of his aggressiveness and looking to put a hurt on him, or do you think Roach's training has brought it back? Both?

He looked to be in really good shape. Looked pretty lean and although I think he's a small 154er, his speed definitely helps him vs the bigger junior middleweights.

Cotto can fight going backwards but he was always better coming forward like a bull.

Speed and power, at least in Cotto's case, has been mostly a mental thing. His speed dropped off dramatically between 2009-2013, but he looked super sharp in there last night. I honestly think he's been lethargic because of his mental state and not committing to his punches, which has affected his speed and power.

When a guy like Roach believes in him, it means something. Freddie is brutally honest.

The Cotto last night reminded me of the Cotto that punished Judah. Any time Rodriguez clinched Cotto would just keep ****ing the body and just had a mean streak in him.

I think fighting defensively these last few years definitely took away from these.

The fight went how many Rounds??? Yeah. Well lets see him in there with at least a B class fighter hungry and ready for war. Drag him into the deep rounds and see how well his mind holds up. No doubt hes got the skills. Dont think he ever lost that. He just folds up mid way and quits on himself mentally.

I was saying before the fight, Roach and Cotto are a good fit, and Roach will have Cotto looking the best he has done in years.

If Cotto sticks with Roach, he will beat Canelo and will make the fight with Martinez 50/50.

Honestly what did you expect , its was Jennings Gomez all over again , when you drop a class your a beast , your stronger faster more accurate to do basically what you want , off course you gunna look good .

Cotto is not shot , nowhere near it and only the worlds elite are gunna beat him , look at the first minute of that fight Delvin sht bricks , he was so over powered and out classed he had nothing , look at Delvins body it was like a boy , there was such a class difference here .

It seems like so many people when watching a fight only really see one guy .

It's been there, just hasn't used his underrated speed and power to the best of their abilities.

He fought mean last night. He was also clearly toying Rodriguez in 2nd, like he did back against Gomez. When Cotto is acting cocky, he's in the zone.

Opponent doesn't matter. Martinez, Canelo, Marquez, Bradley... they can all get it
