    Excessive Clinching should be BANNED

I'm a Wlad fan but jeez that was just pitiful on his part. I know clinching is part of boxing but it should NOT be a defensive tactic. You should only be allowed to clinch if you're in trouble from a punch. Wlad not only clinches too much but he just leans his whole body weight on the guy. This is not the first time he's done this. He does it way too much. The guy has a height and weight advantage in 95% of his fights. I don't understand why he needs to do that. Well I kinda know, It's because he's scared to get hit in the mouth. It's not like he doesn't have skills. And another thing that bothers me that he constantly gets away with is when he keeps his long left arm out without punching. As far as I know that's illegal if you're not throwing the jab right? But he uses it to keep his opponent at a safe distance. So annoying.

It is banned. It's against the rules. The referees just let it happen.

    Rule 2 my dude.

The judges suck, and the referees don't even read the rules.

You can thank the man in your avi. He trained Lewis the same way. Klits are no different. Its part of their arsenal. Its also why they are not big PPV stars. If Wald feels the least bit fearful of his opponent he will hold on till the ref takes a point.

it is banned but the refs need to do their jobs, points should be deducted, but that then takes away from the game plan of the Klits, Ward, at times Hops and Floyd and in the past Lewis. These are all big names in the sport and they often get what they want because the reds aren't brave enough.

It it is not even the clinching I have more of a problem with the pulling the opponent head down then holding and leaning ON TOP of your opponent

            Golota-Ruddock-Bruno-Mercer-Vitali-Briggs-Mason-Grant-..

Lewis went to war against them............the biggest misconception of Lewis is that he clinches and is a boring fighter.. due to the fact he fought Tyson that way. Name me 3 other fights in which he held excessively?

Lewis only fought Tyson like that because Lewis himself was way past prime and heading towards shot. Lewis's prime was from 96-00.....ish...... He was not the same in 2001 and even worst in 2002. The dude was KTFO in 2001 and had to come back to destroy Rahman due to sheer heart alone.

In 02 Lewis was a shell.. the ONLY reason he looked great against Tyson was because Tyson was a copse.

A shell of one's self is still greater than a copse of one's self.

96-00 Lewis would have KTFO out 2002 Tyson in 2 rounds max.

Spinks Tyson would have killed 2002-2003 Lewis...

I don't understand why so many people watch the Tyson fight and think that's the way Lennox usually operates..it's not.. Everything about him was wrong.

He usually follows up the jab with sneaky hooks and combinations.. in the Tyson fight he followed up his jabs with clinches and right hands. He will also use great lateral movement during his prime.. in the Tyson fight he simply stood and was seemingly out of breath by the 5th round... Lewis was hyper motivated and in shape against Tyson but by no means was that a Prime Lewis. His Prime left him prior to South Africa and he was rendered completely shot when Rahman scrambled his brains that night.
