Hyperbaric chambers are proven to dramatically improve recover time ! Fast skipping is explosive steps which is plyometrics, they all have merit do what suits you best ! One thing I noticed about running regularly 4-8 miles is that I got faster and very sharp its almost like it made my mind run 3 seconds faster then the opposition I was facing so I'd be through the gap before they had time to react. Mo farrah can still do a 11 second 100m and a 12second one after 10,000 metres !!
