Clinching is part of boxing. Its not the same as throwing elbows or headbutting. Its designed to slow a fight down or give a fighter time to recoup. Is it pleasing, no. Is it a blatant foul, no to that as well.

lol there were quite a few rounds where he did that, he seemed to tackle, hold or push more than he actually punched.

I agree. There was one round where he started dancing Ali-style a bit - that would have been the way to go.

The thing that annoyed me is that he did the leaning throughout the ENTIRE fight. If he had just done it in the first 3-4 rounds - OK. but from then on he should have battered povetkin with the jabs.

This fight was an exception, dont try and act like it has always been Wlads thing. Hopkins is the biggest fight spoiler of all time. Theres no debate.

No, Hopkins has no competition in that department.

Lol at people comparing Wlad to Hopkins, or any boxer that excessively holds for that matter.

Hopkins doesn't lean on his 250lb body on his opponents neck because he doesn't have one, they're nothing alike, in fact no other boxer has that kind of advantage.

Wlad's leaning/holding just doesn't neutralize an opponents inside fighting, it totally tires them out. It's basically like squatting 250lbs the whole fight with your lower/upper body, so your legs/lower back tire out extremely fast.

With tired legs your offense suffers because your power comes from your legs, you use your legs to help you get into position as well. Your defense suffers because you use your legs/core to avoid punches, moving in and out ducking and dodging.

I don't like all the clinching; it's terrible to watch, but the shoving is funny.
